Art Explorations
Pacific Trails Middle School
2019-2020
Ms. Cecily Wheeler
Art Explorations is a yearlong Elective at PTMS that offers students comprehensive art experiences with detailed explorations in the classics such as painting, drawing, printmaking, ceramics, sculpture, digital art and photography, video/film, and fiber arts. In addition to gaining confidence and proficiency working with a variety of mediums, students will learn about the history, analysis, and interpretation of art.
It is my goal for students to:
-
Excel in artistic ability and production of art forms.
-
Demonstrate knowledge of the Elements and Principles of Design and Art concepts.
-
Demonstrate an appreciation of the Arts.
Participation in visual art develops self-confidence, creativity, and enhances skills in presentation, communication and self-expression.
Classroom Policy:
The Art Explorations classroom is set up in a studio-learning environment. Students are expected to be responsible and respectful for the learning environment, materials, and management of time, themselves, their peers, and teacher.
Original Work:
All work turned in by students must be original without copyrighted image (including internet images) unless specifically directed to do so by the teacher. Using non-original work will result in a zero for the assignment.
Guidelines for success:
-
Be prepared…. PUT YOUR PHONE AWAY!! Art Explorations is a NO PHONE CLASS!
-
Be to class on time.
-
Listen & follow directions- ASK QUESTIONS!
-
RESPECT the people, equipment, and furniture in the classroom. Get permission to use and open materials.
-
Use all tools safely and properly.
-
Be honest and accountable for your actions. We are a COMMUNITY.
-
Use your time wisely. Stay on task and work towards putting your best work forward to completion.
-
Work quietly. Use appropriate language and have appropriate conversations.
-
CLEAN UP AFTER YOURSELF! SERIOUSLY…DO IT.
HAVE FUN, BE POSITIVE, YOU CAN DO IT!
I look forward to an amazing and creative school year!
